Tomorrow, for the Muslims is Eid ul-Fitr or Id-ul-Fitr (in Arabic: عيد الفطر ‘Īdu l-Fiṭr), often abbreviated to Eid, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of the Holy month of Ramadan, coincident with first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal.
Eid is an Arabic word meaning “festivity”, while Fiṭr means “to break the fast” festivity symbolising the breaking of the fasting period.
Muslims are commanded by the Qur’an to complete their fast on the last day of Ramadan and then recite the Takbir prayer all throughout the period of Eid.The fasting period observed Holy month of Ramadan hard proved metabolism. We do recommand not to exceed with the food in this period, specially in first days after Ramadan, to let the body accustoms again to the usual feeding. See also healthy tips in this blog.
Eid ul-Fitr is a three day celebration and is sometimes also known as the “Smaller Eid” (Arabic: العيد الصغير al-‘īdu ṣ-ṣaghīr) as compared to the Eid ul-Adha that lasts four days and is called the “Greater Eid” (Arabic: العيد الكبير al-‘īdu l-kabīr). Common greetings during this Eid ul-Fitr are the Arabic greeting ‘Īd mubārak (“Blessed Eid”) or ‘Īd sa‘īd (“Happy Eid”). So we wish to everybody:
‘Īd mubārak عيد مبارك

During the Holy month of Ramadan, faithful has to fast till the sunset, when they can join relatives and friends for the iftar. Some healthy tips will help faithful in not stressing too much their body; the long period of fasting is a hard proof for the metabolism.
- eat high-fibre food, vegetables, fruits with skin during suhur
- to balance the lack of water during the day (during each day we should drink 10-12 glasses of water), drink fruit juices and eat fruit with high content of water (i.e. watermelon) during iftar and suhur
- eat food from the five food groups during iftar
- fats, sweets, oils and other food
- milk and derivates
- meat and derivates
- fruit and vegetables
- bread, pasta and cereals

- do not drink too much tea during iftar, cause its diuretic effect will let you expell precious mineral salts during the day
- do not exceed with fast food and precooked food, neither with the food in general during the iftar
- do not exceed with the food when the fasting period finishes
Beyond the religious meaning of the fasting, many dieticians agree on the positive aspects of such practice: the internal system is purified, fasting helps to vanquish a series of disturbances related with the feeding (inflammation of the colon, of stomach ache, obesity, hypertension)
