Popular Driving Trips in Dubai

The desert playground of the rich and famous, Dubai is the second largest of the United Arab Emirates and the most important port and commercial centre of the UAE. Dubai lies on the banks of the Dubai Creek at the crossroads between Europe, Africa and Asia. To really explore Dubai during your visit renting a car is highly recommended.

Throughout the UAE driving is on the right hand side and the main roads connecting the various sections of the city are modern and well-maintained. The two sections of the city on either side of the creek, Bur Dubai and Deira, are connected by two bridges and a tunnel. Popular driving trips in and around Dubai include self-guided city tours taking in the main attractions. You can plan your own route depending on which part of the city you choose to stay in but highlights not to miss include the iconic Burj Khalifa, where you can take a lift to the viewing deck and enjoy incredible views across the desert city. Une Semaine de la Mode destinées à mettre en valeur les collections de jeunes créateurs arabes .  Du 15 au 18 mars, la capitale des Emirats arabes unis organisait une première Semaine de la Mode. Entre mode et religion, les collections faisait cohabiter tradition et imagination.

The 2010 Formula One season is the 61st Formula One season. The season’s first race was held on March 14 in Bahrain, whereas the last race will be held in Abu Dhabi, Yas Marina Circuit, both of them in the GCC, very close to Dubai.

Driven by desire to push into new markets — primarily in the Middle East — the sport is witnessing a boom in track construction and investment. The greatest spending spree has been in the Middle East, where an estimated $11.3 billion has been spent on motor sports in the past five years.

This is also a signal of a changing global economic asset.

A new points system has been ratified for 2010, in response to the increased grid. Since 2003, points had been awarded to the top eight finishers: ten points for first, eight for second, six for third and all the way down to one for eighth place. The 2010 system is as follows^:

DUBAI CITY TOUR
Our tour takes you to the mystical past from the glorious present. This route starts with A stop at the magnificent Jumeirah Mosque proceeding towards a drive through the Jumeirah beach and all its spectacular hotels for a photo shoot.
The trip continues to the Sheikh Zayed road where we watch the sparkling science-fiction skyscrapers standing alongside the Dubai World Trade Center. En route we pass by the majestic Sheikh Palace followed by a short break by the Creek. The journey then continues towards the Bastakiya area in Bur Dubai, where we stop for a while to admire the old wind-tower houses built by wealthy Merchants.
Close by, stands the ancient Al Fahidi Fort, now housing the Dubai Museum that records the city’s past as an important pearl diving and trading centre. The journey ends with a ride by the authentic Abra – a local of Dubai where we explore the magical aroma of the Spice Souk and the dazzle of the Gold Souk leaving us mesmerized.

ABU DHABI CITY TOUR
It is hard to believe that just 50 years ago, Abu Dhabi the island capital of the United Arab Emirates was a bleak fishing and pearling village. The evolution of Abu Dhabi has been spectacular. Today, it has large gardens, green boulevards, sophisticated high-rise buildings, rich shopping malls, cultural centers and events that offer one-of-a-kind experience all the year round. En route to Abu Dhabi is the humungous Jebel Ali Port, the largest man-made port in the world. Driving through the bridge we pass by Abu Dhabi’s magnificent new mosque, which is nearing completion and is also widely believed to be one of the biggest mosque in the world. On arrival in Abu Dhabi we visit the renovated AL HUSN PALACE now home of the Centre for Documentation and Research. We then learn about the oil the so-called ‘black gold’ – and how it has transformed Abu Dhabi into the wealthy city of today. The journey then continues towards a drive along the beautiful Corniche gives a magnificent view of the city.
Later, the tour passes the majestic president’s palace, then to the Dhow Yard, where wooden ships are still built using simple tools and lastly the Women Handicraft Centre where we admire the skill and dexterity of local ladies.

AL AIN CIT TOUR
Dramatically situated against the mountain backdrop of the 1300-metre-high Jebel Hafit, for years Al Ain has been an important stop on the caravan trail. The adventure starts  with stop at the nation’s largest museum located within the walls of Al Jahili Fort, which fabulously exhibits the magnificent archaeological excavations from Jebel Hafeet.
The next stop is the quaint and busy camel market also considered as the largest camel market in the Middle East. Our journey then continues to the nearby Buraimi Oasis in the Omani territory where we observe the 2,000- year-old irrigation system feeding the date gardens. Appetizing lunch will be served high above the city on your own expencess, in the five star mountain hotel of Jebel Hafeet where we enjoy a spectacular view over the whole Al Ain area.
Subsequently we drive back to Dubai.

SHARJAH & AJMAN CITY TOUR
Tour of Islamic history and culture. One of the major attractions to photographers is the distinctive King Faisal Mosque built to honor King Faisal of Saudi Arabia that currently  is the largest mosque in the Emirates. En route we continue towards the renovated Fort of Sharjah, former residence of the ruling family originally built in 1820, followed by the  authentic 150-year-old ‘Al Nabooddah House’, the museum for cultural heritage. Exploring the myriad images of Arabia, we take a quick stroll to the adjacent souks` of ‘Al Arsa’ and  to the ‘Majarrah Souk’ will take you to our next venue which is the distinguished Souk ‘Al Markazi’ – a treasure trove of Persian carpets, souvenirs, jewellery and handicrafts.
Just 15 minutes drive from the northeast of Sharjah is the Emirate of Ajman – A small Emirate with a lovely stretch of white sandy beach. We then make our way towards the famous historical fort and the museum which brilliantly displays the Emirates past before the discovery of oil. Our journey takes us to the Dhow-building yard where the Dhows  (traditional boats) are still hand made.
This concludes our tour before heading back to Dubai.

EAST COST TOUR
The road to the northern emirates of uae is one of the most scenically spectacular in the Emirates; you emerge from the magnificent sand dunes of the central region to be met by the grand Hajar Mountains at the town of Dhaid. Our first stop is the Friday market that was originally established for Fridays but is now open everyday. Proceeding onwards we move towards the14th century Bithna Fort followed by a lovely drive towards the pictures que emirate of Fujairah. We then head towards one of the beach hotels for a lunch.
After lunch we proceed to the scenic fishing village of Dibbah. The mountain village of Khassab is the next “Must-See” on this tour, where the friendly Shihu Tribe still lives in houses built of rock. We then cross the Musandam Peninsula, which belongs to the Oman, on rough tracks through the narrow gorges up to a height of nearly 1200 meters. From there, you will have an astonishing view of fascinating cliffs and deep canyons.
Afterwards we head back to Dubai with a drive through the Emirates of Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman and Sharjah.

Costa Deliziosa – Itineraries for 2010

The Costa Deliziosa’s grand maiden cruise departs from Savona on February 5, 2010.  This one-off itinerary will last 38 days:  the first part will be a 21-day extravaganza from Savona to Dubai, crossing the Red Sea and including ports of call in Egypt, Jordan and Oman, while the second, 17-day stretch will head east to India and the Maldives. Customers can book either leg or both.  Until May 2010 the Costa Deliziosa will be based in Dubai, from where she will offer exclusive 7-day cruises around the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Bahrain.

In May 2010 the liner will return to Savona on a spectacular 18-day positioning cruise, then from there on to Copenhagen, which will be her summer homeport for 7-day cruises to the Norwegian fjords and Baltic cities.

In the fall the Costa Deliziosa will be deployed on 10-day trips to Egypt with departures from Savona, Naples and Messina.

-          un Simulatore di Golf da professionisti, il più evoluto a bordo di una nave da crociera, con  37 campi disponibili (da 18 buche l’uno), e un’area esterna di 100 metri quadrati dotata di “putting green”;

-          il Simulatore di Gran Premio: situato in uno dei punti più panoramici della nave, il simulatore non è un videogioco ma una vera monoposto che riproduce fedelmente la guida di un’auto da GP sui più famosi circuiti internazionali, la stessa usata dai veri piloti per allenarsi;

-          Playstation, una esclusiva che solo Costa Crociere può offrire. A cominciare dal Playstation World, un’area interamente dedicata al videogaming di ultima generazione, attrezzata esclusivamente con PlayStation 3, il sistema di intrattenimento multimediale di casa Sony, e videogiochi di ultimissima generazione. La Playstation 3 è disponibile anche on demand in cabina con un’ampia scelta di videogiochi a noleggio. Sono inoltre previste serate Playstation sul maxi schermo della piscina centrale;

-          pista da roller skate.

Su Costa Deliziosa è inoltre attivo un servizio di collegamento internet wi-fi, sia in cabina che nelle aree pubbliche della nave.

Le innovazioni legate alla tecnologia riguardano anche la tutela e la protezione dell’ambiente. Costa Deliziosa e la gemella Costa Luminosa, entrata in servizio a maggio 2009, sono le prime navi in  Italia e tra le prime al mondo a essere predisposte per il “cold ironing”, ovvero  il sistema che permette alle navi ferme in banchina di ricevere la corrente da terra, senza dover tenere accesi i motori per alimentare i generatori di bordo. Non solo: a bordo delle navi sono previsti il 100% di raccolta differenziata, riciclo di alluminio, vetro e altre tipologie di rifiuti, produzione di acqua attraverso dissalatori. Inoltre solo su Costa Deliziosa sono presenti speciali innovazioni per la riduzione del consumo di carburante e delle emissioni di CO2.

Una delle sorprese che Costa Deliziosa riserva è certamente il Teatro. Una struttura altamente sofisticata che copre una superficie di 1.300 m², disposta su 3 livelli, con un altezza di circa 10 metri, può ospitare oltre 800 spettatori, e dispone di tecnologie e scenografie tali da costituire un esempio per analoghe strutture anche sulla terraferma. In particolare una tecnologia LED all’avanguardia, con circa 14.000 luci, consente giochi di luce e colori che creano un vero e proprio “spettacolo nello spettacolo”. Se al teatro e agli spettacoli dal vivo si preferisce il video, ecco il Mega Schermo di 18 m², che grazie alla sua particolare tecnologia offre musica e intrattenimento a tutte le ore del giorno.  Il Mega Schermo si trova dell’area piscina centrale, che si sviluppa su ben 2 ponti della nave, e può essere utilizzata in qualsiasi stagione grazie alla sua copertura mobile di cristallo.

Per completare l’esperienza di “puro piacere” Costa Deliziosa offre moltissime opportunità legate al benessere e alla gastronomia. A bordo è possibile fare jogging o pattinare sulla pista da roller skate, scoprendo quanto sia piacevole praticare sport tra cielo e mare, oppure approfittare dell’attrezzatissima palestra, con le più innovative attrezzature Techonogym. Inoltre Costa Deliziosa e la gemella Costa Luminosa sono le prime navi al mondo ad offrire un circuito Kinesis, sempre a cura di Technogym, situato all’interno della palestra, con attrezzature, da utilizzare sia singolarmente che in gruppo, studiate appositamente per migliorare lo stato di salute, l’allenamento e la tonificazione muscolare. Per chi vuole godersi una vacanza all’insegna del benessere è disponibile la Samsara spa: un centro benessere da mille e una notte, una delle più grandi spa mai realizzate su una nave da crociera (su Costa Deliziosa misura circa 3.500 m²), che comprende:

-          l’area benessere, che offre  trattamenti ayurvedici esclusivi, bagni di vapore e antichi rituali orientali per il corpo;

-           comode cabine con accesso diretto all’area;

-          un ristorante dedicato con menù benessere.

Tra i piaceri della nave non mancano quelli gastronomici. Anche su Costa Deliziosa, oltre all’elegante ristorante e al buffet informale in stile marinaro, sarà disponibile il ristorante Club, chiamato Club Deliziosa, con menù a cura di Ettore Bocchia, stella Michelin ed Executive Chef del Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni a Bellagio. I piatti proposti si basano sul meglio della tradizione culinaria italiana e su materie prime eccellenti. Esclusiva anche la carta dei vini, selezionata con la consulenza di sommelier internazionali, che comprende anche l’Amarone Stella Aneri 2004 Riserva Speciale Costa Deliziosa, un vino prodotto in quantità limitata e maturato in una delle 15 botti riservate alle navi della flotta Costa, oltre a rinomate etichette nazionali ed estere. Il ristorante Samsara, dedicato agli ospiti delle cabine Samsara, offre invece un menù all’insegna della leggerezza. Gli amanti dei dolci e delle prelibatezze troveranno il loro regno nel “chocolate bar”, mentre chi preferisce un’atmosfera più classica e “old style” ha a disposizione il “cigar bar”.

Costa Deliziosa ha una stazza di 92.600 tonnellate e può accogliere un massimo di 2.826 ospiti totali in 1.130 cabine di cui 772 dotate di balcone privato. Questa peculiarità la rende la nave, insieme alla gemella Costa Luminosa, con la più alta percentuale, il 68%, di cabine con balcone privato della flotta Costa Crociere ed è stata così realizzata per soddisfare gli Ospiti che vorranno godersi al meglio, comodamente dalla propria cabina, gli spettacolari panorami offerti dagli itinerari di Costa Deliziosa.

Costa Deliziosa – Gli itinerari 2010

La grande crociera inaugurale di Costa Deliziosa salpa da Savona il 5 febbraio 2010. Un itinerario unico di 38 giorni: la prima parte, di 21 giorni, da Savona a Dubai, attraverso il Mar Rosso, toccando Egitto, Giordania e Oman; la seconda, di 17 giorni, verso oriente in India e le Isole Maldive. Le due tratte possono anche essere acquistate separatamente. Sino a maggio 2010 Costa Deliziosa rimarrà posizionata a Dubai, per offrire le esclusive crociere di 7 giorni negli Emirati Arabi, Oman e Bahrein.

A maggio 2010 tornerà a Savona con una spettacolare crociera di posizionamento di 18 giorni, e da lì si sposterà a Copenaghen, da dove, nel corso dell’estate, offrirà crociere di 7 giorni nei fiordi norvegesi e nelle capitali del Baltico.

In autunno Costa Deliziosa offrirà crociere di 10 giorni in Egitto con partenza da Savona, Napoli e Messina.

Costa Deliziosa – Gli itinerari 2011

Nell’inverno 2010/11 Costa Deliziosa torna a posizionarsi nel Golfo Arabico per crociere di 7 giorni da Dubai. Confermate anche per l’estate 2011 le crociere in Nord Europa da Amsterdam. Nell’autunno sono previste crociere di 11 giorni nelle Isole Canarie. La grande novità è rappresentata dalle storiche crociere “giro del mondo”: un suggestivo e unico itinerario di 100 giorni, che può essere suddiviso in 3 tratte (Savona-Los Angeles; Los Angeles-Singapore; Singapore-Savona), che Costa Deliziosa proporrà a partire da fine 2011.
