Kingdom Tower: in January to begin construction of the World’s tallest tower
Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill, the architecture firm behind the Kingdom Tower (Arabic: برج المملكة ), also known as Mile-High Tower (Arabic: برج الميل ) confirmed that construction will start on Jeddah’s 1 km-high structure in January 2012. A story in UAE daily The National contained comments from Adrian Smith which revealed that detailed plans for the landmark tower have advanced at a rapid pace. In a statement to Middle East Architect, a spokesperson for the Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill said: “I can confirm Adrian’s statement to The National that construction on Kingdom Tower is scheduled to begin in January.” “The project is moving rapidly.
