Ramadan 2012

Il mese del Ramadan (in arabo: رمضان, ramaḍān, letteralmente “mese torrido”) è il nono mese del calendario musulmano, e ha una durata di 29 o 30 giorni, secondo le fasi della luna. La parola, in arabo, significa , il che fa ritenere che quando la calendarizzazione dei mesi era legata al ciclo solare esso fosse il mese estivo più caldo. Dopo la pubblicazione del nostro articolo riguardo al mese del Ramadan, in cui abbiamo spiegato che il calendario lunare fa sì che questo mese di digiuno si sposti di 11 giorni ogni anno rispetto al calendario gregoriano, alcuni lettori si sono chiesti come mai il calendario lunare non coincida con quello solare, sul quale si basa il mondo occidentale. In fondo, un anno è un anno e dovrebbe avere la stessa durata per tutti! Se nel principio è vero che la durata di un anno solare è la stessa per tutti, il calendario lunare si basa su mesi che coincidono con il periplo della Luna attorno alla Terra.
