Il 61° campionato mondiale di Formula 1 2010 organizzato dalla FIA è iniziato il 14 marzo con il Gran Premio del Bahrein e terminerà il 14 novembre sul circuito di Abu Dhabi, dopo 19 gare, due in più della stagione precedente (ritorna il Gran Premio del Canada e viene inserito per la prima volta nel calendario il Gran Premio di Corea).

Tra le novità da segnalare c’è la gara inaugurale che non sarà più a Melbourne (Australia) come al solito, ma in Bahrain, mentre quella finale sarà ad Abu Dhabi. Entrambe le tappe da localizzare nella zona del Golfo Persico, non lontano da Dubai.

Segnale questo, di un crescente potere dell’economia medio-orientale a livello mondiale e anche di un asse economico e di attenzioni che si sposta.

The 2010 Formula One season is the 61st Formula One season. The season’s first race was held on March 14 in Bahrain, whereas the last race will be held in Abu Dhabi, Yas Marina Circuit, both of them in the GCC, very close to Dubai.

Driven by desire to push into new markets — primarily in the Middle East — the sport is witnessing a boom in track construction and investment. The greatest spending spree has been in the Middle East, where an estimated $11.3 billion has been spent on motor sports in the past five years.
