Dubai (UAE): They may have wrapped up the Class 1 World Powerboat Championship in Abu Dhabi less than a fortnight ago but today’s (Tuesday) final race in the 2010 UIM X-Cat World Series Powerboat Championship will see Fazza’s Arif Al Zafeen and Nadir Bin Hendi start as outsiders for the title.
The Class 1 World Champions kept alive their hopes of a world title double by claiming maximum points in the second race in the three-round X Cat World Series in Abu Dhabi last month but trail in fourth place as the season comes to a head at the Dubai International Martine Club this afternoon.

STRESA (Italy): World champions Arif Al Zafeen and Nader Bin Hendi were promoted to first place in the opening race at the Italian Grand Prix in Italy yesterday (Sat) following the news that Norway’s Jorn Tandberg and Kolbjorn Selmer were disqualified after celebrating what they thought had been their first win of the 2010 UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship in Stresa.
The Norwegians had qualified in pole position and subsequently held off the strong challenge of championship leaders Al Zafeen and Bin Hendi in Fazza to win by 23 seconds on the waters of Lake Maggiore. But post-race scrutineering revealed a discrepancy with the engines in Welmax and they were disqualified from both the Pole Position and race one of the Italian Grand Prix.

STRESA (Italy): The future of the sport may be the hot topic off the water but on Italy’s Lake Maggiore it was business as usual for world champions Nader Bin Hendi and Arif Al Zafeen yesterday (Friday) as they set their sights on the 2010 Class 1 European Powerboat Championship.
Piloting the Dubai cat Fazza – powered by twin V12 Victory engines – Bin Hendi and Al Zafeen lit up a gloomy day on Italy’s second largest lake by setting the fastest time in practice on the eve of race one at the Italian Grand Prix in Stresa.

STRESA (Italy): The Class 1 European Powerboat Championship will be on the line for three teams when the Italian Grand Prix is staged on the waters of Lake Maggiore in Stresa tomorrow and Sunday (October 2-3).
Italian Giovanni Carpitella leads the European standings and will aiming to land the first Class 1 title for Italy in five years when he pairs up with new partner Chris Parsonage of the UK.
Twelve points behind Carpitella, world champions Nader Bin Hendi and Arif Al Zafeen in Fazza will be desperate to leapfrog the Italian after the disappointment of the previous race in Sweden.

With more than a decade of experience in Class 1, dedication, commitment and charisma are the terms that best describe GiorgiOffshore.
2008/9 were landmark years for the team; running a Michael Peters-designed, Victory-built hull, powered by V12 power-plants, the team took their first Grand Prix podiums, finishing third in the Mina Seyahi Grand Prix in 08 and a second podium, finishing third in qualifying, in Abu Dhabi in 09.
For throttleman Nicola Giorgi, son of charismatic team owner, Gianni, 2010 will be his 10th consecutive World Championship season, with Nicola one of only a few pilots to have participated in more than 70 Grands Prix.
