Dubai: vietata la vendita dell’ultimo numero del Sunday Times
How Dubai’s dream sank in a sea of debt (come il sogno di Dubai annega in un mare di debiti) Così titolava il Sunday Times nell’ultimo numero, simulando in un fotomontaggio lo Sceicco Al Maktoum che affoga. Le autorità dell’emirato hanno vietato la vendita dell’ultimo numero del giornale britannico Sunday Times, spiegando che l’immagine è ritenuta offensiva e non consona alla tradizione e alla cultura locale, che non accetta pubbliche offese ad una figura di spicco, quale Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum. L’industria dei cavalli conta parecchi zeri, e continua a crescere in tutto il mondo. Certamente, comperare un cavallo è sempre possibile. Ma non è alla portata di tutte le borse: il costo iniziale varia molto in base alla razza, alla purezza e così via.. Una spesa minima per un buon cavallo può aggirarsi sui 50.000 – 75.000 euro, cui però bisogna aggiungere il costo annuale (addestramento, affitto di una gabbia, veterinario, prodotti alimentari ecc.) che raggiunge facilmente 30.000 euro all’anno. Sheikh, o anche Sheik, Shaykh, Shaikh, Cheikh (nella variante francese), and other variants (in arabo: شيخ, shaykh; al plurale شيوخ shuyūkh) è il termine arabo che letteralmente significa “più vecchio” e quindi “anziano”, persona quindi che gode di grande rispetto, in virtù della sua maggiore conoscenza ed esperienza delle leggi, di usi e costumi (adab) che regolavano la vita del gruppo. La forma femminile è sceicca (sheikha, shaykha, o šaikha).
