The Costa Deliziosa, the first cruise ship ever to be inaugurated in an Arab city, will also be calling at Muscat and Abu Dhabi.

Genoa – February 17, 2010 – Only 6 days to go to the big inauguration event for the Costa Deliziosa (www.costadeliziosa.com), the new jewel of the Costa Cruises fleet, which will be held in Dubai on February 23 in a unique and innovative ceremony staged by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) together with Europe’s n.1 cruise line.

The Costa Deliziosa, which was built in Italy by Fincantieri and delivered in Venice on January 30 this year, set sail from Savona on February 5 on her Grand Inaugural Cruise taking her – across the Mediterranean, Suez Canal, Red Sea and Arabian Gulf – to Dubai, where she will making a stopover from February 23 through 26.

According to the estimate of the World Tour Organization, Arab tourists spend more than anybody else; on average, a tourist from the Emirates spends $1700 in shopping and restaurants every time he/she travels, in spite of the ongoing tradition of bargaining, even during the sales season.
European countries appear not to be their favorite destination, for various reasons. First of all, we have to consider that the Islamic community feels more at ease traveling to Muslim countries; institutional websites themselves often give a very explicit indication in this sense.
The very way our system works is not inviting to rich tourists from the Emirates, for the organizations in charge of tourist proposals do not suggest any promotions for visits to Italy.

Klaus Boesch, a native Austrian born in 1963 and some art students in California worked on a research project for kinetic art, giving the birth to the raw idea of sand pictures.
Ever since a few people around the globe are creating sand pictures. The Sandman is the one who adapted this technique and brought it back to where it came from: The art!
I met first time Klaus Boesch in Dubai, during the Index Exhibition, in 2008 and I discovered those genial masterpieces.

I turisti arabi – secondo le stime del World Tour Organization – sono quelli che spendono più di tutti; mediamente un turista degli Emirati spende 1700 dollari in shopping e ristornati ogni volta che viaggia, sebbene conservi l’abitudine mentale a mercanteggiare, anche in periodo di saldi.

I Paesi Europei non risultano essere le loro mete preferite, per una serie di motivi. Innanzi tutto c’è da considerare che la comunità islamica si sente maggiormente a proprio agio nel viaggiare in Paesi musulmani; tale indicazione viene anche spesso data in maniera molto diretta da siti istituzionali.
Le esigenze di spazio delle famiglie arabe (una o più mogli, spesso numerosi figli, governanti e baby sitter) non si incontra bene con la piccola dimensione delle camere degli hotel italiani, sfavorendo ancora una volta la già bassa presenza di turisti arabi in Italia. Secondo il quotidiano The National di Abu Dhabi, la catena Marriott Hotel & Resort intende raddoppiare la grandezza delle suite e delle camere in 15 nuovi alberghi che saranno costruiti in Cina, in Tailandia e in India, proprio per accogliere le esigenze di spazio delle famiglie arabe ed emiratine in particolare (oggi mediamente più numerose).
